Virtu works to empower children and young adults to achieve lifelong success through premium and long-term health, education and welfare initiatives.

Organization

As 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Virtu focuses its operations on improving the educational opportunities to approximately 60 children aging from 1 - 20 years of age in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. These children have been orphaned, abandoned or neglected and live under the full-time care of partner organization Sociedad Amigos de los Niños.

Sociedad Amigos de los Niños

Founded in 1966 by Sister Maria Rosa Leggol, Honduran non-profit organization Sociedad Amigos de los Niños (SAN) has provided over 44,000 children with shelter, health care, education, training and the opportunity to live with dignity. SAN has operated for over forty years and has become one of Honduras' most highly recognized and respected non-profit organizations. Focusing on providing care for children and at times their mothers, SAN serves an otherwise desolate population with few options. Sister Maria Rosa has earned through her actions the recognition of Latin America's "Mother Teresa."

Hogares Pedro Atala

Hogares Pedro Atala is SAN’s inner-city project located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras offering housing and care for approximate sixty children who were orphaned, abandoned, neglected and/or abused. When the children enter Hogares Pedro Atala, they literally carry all of their belongings with them. Sociedad Amigos de los Niños and Virtu share the common goal that when the children leave they possess the education and life skills to integrate into the world as productive members of society.

Sociedad Amigos de los Niños and Virtu

The doors of Sociedad Amigos de los Niños are forever open to the poor and neglected women and children of Honduras. Over the past forty years, SAN has grown considerably. As the number of defenseless children will not likely decline in the coming years, SAN anticipates further growth to meet the children’s needs by strengthening each maturing program. Advancement within SAN will result from the expansion of current programs and adopting more efficient processes. Furthermore, as SAN is constantly searching for opportunities leading towards independence and self-sufficiency, the continued development of partnerships is looked upon as an important area of growth for Sociedad Amigos de los Niños. Virtu serves the children participating in the programs of Sociedad Amigos de los Niños and shall continue indefinitely to serve this population.
